On a beautiful, sunny day like today you probably have your blinds and curtains open. Here’s a tip from Vesta regarding a more typical Seattle winter’s day.
MISCONCEPTION: Keeping blinds and curtains closed on cold days helps keep your house warm and saves energy.
EXPLAINATION: Unless you have exceptionally tight-fitting blinds, heat loss still happens because air continues to circulate behind the blind; you just don’t feel it because the curtain shields you from the cold of the window. Condensation on windows is often much worse behind blinds, and this can destroy the window frame.
